For those that do not have their fingers on the pulse of Lakeland, Florida, Mouse Fire have changed things up a bit. Frontman Joey Bruce (vocals, guitar) made the decision to part ways with the rest of the band a couple of months ago. His talent and showmanship will be missed.

But fear not… Mouse Fire are forging onward as a trio. The band has recorded some new material, and it sounds like they’re forging a more expansive sound for themselves in the process. No word as to when we can expect a release, but from the sound of things, it will be promising.

I’m looking forward to seeing how playing as a trio translates into their live set, as well as seeing Shane (vocals, guitars) in the spotlight.

I reviewed that particular record during the first month of SAL’s existence. My how time flies.

Philly’s It’s A King Thing already have a brand new album! It’s so brand new, physical copies don’t even exist yet…hot damn! You can download it for free right here. I reviewed the band’s awesome 2007 self-titled affair here. “Old Hobbies” is the first track from the new record. Thanks Brian!

Just an FYI…got this email from Sammy at GoodCore Records in regards to The Appleseed Cast’s End of The Ring Wars 2xLP he put out.

“We’ve lowered the prices so for the US its only $11.99 and world is only $13.99. About 33% lower. Though that’s not really the important part. I’ve decided all proceeds from the record are to be split between Save the Music and Save Darfur foundations.”

So, you get a classic record (on colored vinyl!) at a great price and you get to support some great causes. Do it!
