Pomegranates “Two Eyes” (Self-Released)

pomegranates.jpg

Pomegranates hail from Columbus, Ohio and play a beautiful mixture of enticing styles. Two Eyes is the band’s self-released debut EP. In fact, these five songs were written in the band’s first three months together. Once you have given Two Eyes a few spins that fact becomes simply shocking. That these four guys got together and created such an exciting and dynamic sound speaks to what may lie ahead for the band. Experimental indie pop is how the Pomegranates are best described. The five songs here stretch across different boundaries and never feel constrained. The band has a reckless and infectious abandon with their songwriting. Yet, all seems perfectly in place. The melodies simply ooze out from these dynamic bursts of indie pop. Two Eyes was tracked in the span of two days and for the most part recorded as live sessions. Remarkable indeed. Pomegranates debut LP Everything is Alive will be released via Lujo Records in the Spring of 2008. I will be waiting with baited breath.
