Boy Kill Boy “Civilian” (Island)
Do you like The Killers? Are you satisfied listening to bands who rip off other bands who weren’t that original in the first place? Well, if so…I present to you your new favorite band, Boy Kill Boy. You might ask yourself: does the world need another version of The Killers? Apparently, the world does. Don’t ask why, just nod along. Frankly, these guys don’t possess an original bone in their body. That’s not to say that some of the songs on the band’s debut, Civilian, aren’t catchy cause they certainly are. There are a few that even briefly held my attention. However, five minutes after listening I could not recall why. But the majority of the album is simply mired in utter and complete blandness. This is mindless music that does not even accomplish mindless music’s primary objective…fun! Quite frankly, Civilian is painful and hard to listen to at times. I just think you and I can do better than this. We deserve better than this. But, what the hell do I know? I’m sure this band will be huge, and my contempt for people’s listening tastes will infinitely keep growing. Whatever.
